Today I have a wonderful treat for you. My dear friend and fellow m/m author, Marguerite Labbe, is giving us an insider view of her new release, All Bets Are Off. I’ve read this and enjoyed every minute of these two wonderful heroes.
My Home Away From Home
From the first moment I came up with the idea of All Bets Are Off I knew that Eli was from New Hampshire. His name might’ve changed half a dozen times when I first started writing it, but not the location. There were a couple scenes and locations that I wanted to bring into the story that never made it. For example, the final scene was supposed to take place at the Balsams Grand Hotel on Christmas Eve, but it didn’t work out that way in the draft. In my mind that’s where they went for the holidays though.
Amwich isn’t an actual town, I made up everything about it, though I took little bits and pieces from various towns I’m familiar with back home. Moose Alley however is a real place. And you really do run into the chance of seeing one or several if you drive along it. The last time I was home I wasn’t so lucky. My son saw several over the summer when he was up in Pittsburg and he got to go swimming and boating on the Connecticut Lakes where Eli and Ash caught their dinner when they were staying at camp.
I particular love the way the mountains look around Plymouth so when I picture Amwich it’s those mountains that enter my mind. And the falls behind Eli’s house were taken from Beaver Brook Falls up in the North Country. It’s been a number of years since I’ve been back home and writing this book let me go back there at least in my mind.
Lastly, here’s a picture of Eli’s house. I don’t know where it is, but I want it. I love old homes with fireplaces and great views. One day I’m going to win the lotto and get myself a little house like this in northern New Hampshire. My husband wants a condo in Las Vegas. I guess we’ll be meeting up somewhere in the Midwest for rendezvous

All Bets Are Off
Author: Marguerite Labbe
Genre: M/M Contemporary
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
It only takes one night with Ash Gallagher to make Eli Hollister think he’s finally met the right man at the right time. Good thing he doesn’t bet on it, because Ash turns out to be a student in Eli’s class at the local college. Eli can’t deny he’s attracted, but now it’s complicated. He’s already in enough trouble with the department head, a man who would like to see Eli denied his tenure and fired.
Ash is looking forward to taking his life in a new direction. After serving one active-duty stint in the Marine Corps and another in the Reserves, he’s ready to put his military life behind him. The last new experience he’d planned for this semester was to fall in lust with his English professor, but the more Eli resists, the more Ash is determined to have him. Then he discovers Eli’s playing for keeps, and Ash is only interested in a fling… or is he? Between these two, when it comes to life and love, all bets are off.
