The weather and seasons can play in important role in the setting of any story. The first flowers of spring can bring sweet scents and the sense of renewal, a summer storm can be violent and aggressive, fall colors and dry leaves can add color to surroundings, and the first snow of the winter can bring a crisp breeze and peaceful, untouched look to the surroundings.
Your task for today, if you choose to accept it, is to examine a season. Any season of your choice. From your character’s perspective, take a walk and show us each season in a single short paragraph. No more than 200 words for each season. Fill each paragraph with the mood, color and flavor of the season.
This exercise is to to help you learn to show better and to bring the setting into your story.
Have fun and good writing to you.
