I’m so excited today. I have paranormal romance author Annie Nicholas joining me for a little chit-chat. She’s super sweet and an encouraging friend. I was so glad when she agreed to this interview.
Even better, she’s giving away a free copy of one of her ebooks today. So tell her how much you love her in the comments below to win a free book! Winner announced at the bottom of the page..
WELCOME Annie, so glad you decided to stop by for a little Q and A for the readers out there.
So, tell me, where do you get your idea? Haha, just kidding. I would never curse a fellow writer with a question like that. *snickers* We all know that’s like number one on the cringing list of questions we get asked.
C.M. –You do seem to love the paranormal though, so what draws you to these mythical beasties and yummy weres that grace your books?
A.N. -Thanks for inviting to your blog. For as long as I can remember I always rooted for the monster in movies. I think King Kong, the 1970’s version, was the first monster movie I saw. Paranormal creatures are bigger than life. Their problems are not mundane yet they need love too.
C.M. -You’ve written both werecreatures and vampires, which do you find more appealing and why?
A.N. -Vampires are my true love. I’ve never met one I didn’t like. They’re more twisted and darker by nature. I think the more tortured the character the more I love them. Vampires are good for this. Don’t get me wrong. I love shifters too but more for the animal nature and sexual magnetism.
C.M. -If you were to line up all of your yummy heroes up in a row and could only take one with you on a trip into the unknown, who would it be and why? — What? No, I wasn’t drooling at the thought of all those yummy heroes lined up shirtless and muscled and … *cough* You were saying?
A.N. -The choices, the choices…Actually, it’s a no brainer. Tane, from The Angler series, hands down. Even if he would probably kill me before the end of the trip. Nosferatu vampires just don’t have patience like some other vamps. He sums up everything that frightens and attracts me all rolled up in one badass, uber-smart, ancient, bloodlusting vampire.
C.M. -So tell me a bit about your new book, The Beta.
A.N. -The Beta is the third book in my Vanguards series. The story is based on the lives of some geekie werewolves. There are different types of nerds/geeks and I’m talking from experience because I am one and hangout with others and raising at least one. The hero, Robert, is the quiet type. He’s smart but doesn’t like hanging out with other people, preferring the logic of computer programming then speech. He’s tossed, unwilling, into a leadership roll when his alpha is on his honeymoon and needs to take care of pack business for a few days. It’s his worse nightmare come true.
Three days of hell, in charge, and running out of antacids.
As the pack’s Beta, Robert needs to watch over the Vasi werewolf pack for a few days. He hates the responsibility, but his job is to dissolve any problems while his alpha honeymoons. Nevertheless, trouble comes to town and her name is Esther. She’s beguiling, beautiful and picks his pocket. Although Robert doesn’t trust her, he still wants to possess her.
Esther arrived in Chicago with the intention of slaying a vampire named Daedalus. While trailing her quarry, she encounters Robert who unhinges her world. He doesn’t know her trade, and she doesn’t know his connection to the vampire. Disturbed by her attraction to this unusual werewolf, she can’t decide which prey to hunt. The one who’s stolen her heart or the one who’ll fill her bank account.
Hot graphic werewolf sex, growing body parts, and one pissed off Nosferatu.
C.M. -The blurb sounds very cool, can’t wait to pick this one up. Is this the same world as your other books or was this a fresh new world for you to explore?
A.N. -It’s the same world as The Angler series in the sense that the Nosferatu have a presence in this series as well but that’s the only connection. The Vanguards books are lighter in tone than The Angler story as well for those who shy away from blood and torture. LOL
C.M. -What’s next on your list of hot and yummy paranormal reads to shoot our way?
A.N. -I have a stand alone novella releasing in July titled Irresistible. “Werewolves believe in soul mates. Sirens eat theirs.” It’s a shifter meets hungry mermaid love story.
C.M. -Okay, I think I’ve taken up enough of your time. Thanks again Annie, for stopping by. You’ve been great. Is there anything else you’d like to add before you go?
A.N. -Never let anyone tell you can’t. With enough dedication anything is possible.
Thanks again for your time, Hon.
And the Winner Is Danielle! Congratulations! Annie will be contacting you shortly with your prize.
