Favorite Books This Year

I’ve been so sick these past two days, but I’m making an effort to keep on my blog schedule and today is Friday, which means I need to post something. I decided on a favorites list.

I know this year isn’t over, but these are some of the books I’ve read this year that have made my FAVORITES shelf.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (Young Adult, Sci-fi) – Just got around to reading this book and really the buzz it’s been getting is well deserved. The characters are interesting, the writing crisp and clean, and the world sucks you in. Really good book. I’ll get around to buying the others in the trilogy soon, so I can’t say how they compare, but the 1st on is excellent.

Bashed By Rick Reed (M/M Thriller, suspense) – This book was like watching a train wreck, in a good way. The stage in set and you sit back and wince as you watch as it all unravels around one young character. The characters are very human, which is what I loved about this book.

Cut and Run By Madeleine Urban & Abigail Roux (M/M Crime-Mystery, Romance) – Okay, I’m in LOVE with this series. The characters are so alive and vibrant. They play off each other so well. They’re two damaged people and I love that about them. I can’t wait for the newest in the series to come out next month.

Sweet as Sin By Inez Kelley (Contemporary, Romance) – Yeah, you won’t see many contemporary romance making my favorites list but Inez Kelley is one hell of a writer. Sweet as Sin is far darker than most contemporary romance, so don’t let the traditional cover throw you. The hero is one dark dude, but, as usual, Inez really does a beautiful job telling his story. A fantastic read.

Risking Eternity by Voirey Linger (M/M, paranormal, Romance) – This on is a sweet little novella about an angel. It’s book two set in her angel world, and (in my opinion) better than one. No sophomore slump here. This book really helps flesh out a world only touched on in book one.

That’s in for now, I’ll make a more complete list around the first with all the delicious stories I’ve found this year.

Have a great weekend.
