Stresses Abound

So, I entered a pitch contest last week over at Passionate Reads. The winner gets the first three chapters of their ms weeded through by Ellora’s Cave’s editor Grace Bradley. I’ve heard great stuff about this woman and would love to work with her so I want to put my best foot forward.

Considering my wip is in the final stages of edit and will be hitting EC’s slush pile soon. I thought I’d toss my pitch in the ring and see what happened.

Drum roll please … . Yay! I made it through the first round. That means on to the second. The second round being the 1st chapter.

I’m a linear writer. I’ve been editing this wip for awhile now. I’m 20 pages from the end of my tweeking editing pass when I hear the great news. I have a personal goal to get this wip to EC’s slush pile by the 1st of Nov. , at the latest.

20 pages … 20 pages of a rushed ending that needs work.

Linear writer.

1st chapter due by Saturday.

*bangs head*

Do I start at the beginning again, or finish my ending?

The question alone makes my head hurt. Plus I need to prep my synopsis for round 3 and edit chapters 2 and 3,  just in case I make it through.

Thank goodness hubby has been so good about this. He knows I’m doing the mad dash to get everything done in time. I love him more than usual this week. (And this is from a man who still thinks my writing is a hobby despite my 1st sale this year) So, at least I have that going for me.

Anyway, wish me luck and stop by and vote for your favorite chapter. Oh, and prepare the duct tape just in case my head explodes. 😀

Have a great weekend!
